i use them they make my hair and nails grow really nice and i think they make my hair grow faster but i also take a multi vitamin. You'll probably see results in a month - not super dramatic change but you will notice that your hair is healthier and grows better

what is a skin tag?
Reply:yuk...go to a doctor and get those removed...nanunanu
Reply:Sweat does not encourage their growth, but they perspire in their own right, as well as tending to grow in places from which perspiration does not easily evaporate. The first time I discovered a skin tag, I had a doctor remove it. Nowadays, when I find one, a diagonal cutting pliers disposes of it.

I have the same problem, except I do not have skin tags around my eyes, neck or scalp.

Yes, I definitely believe sweat promotes the growth of skin tags.

I would talk to your doctor or an endocrinologist about some type of medication, or what diet you should be on, in order to either curb or eliminate your night sweats.
Reply:Try washing frequently with a delicate soap, such as Ivory bar soap (the liquid has additives that may exacerbate the problem.) Also use a light dusting of baby powder; too much will form clumps which will make the problem worse. You should be checked by a skin specialist; this is not normal, and you shouldn't have to endure this. I would imagine that the components of sweat act as a food source for pathogenic bacteria which can be a factor in skin eruptions. See a dermatologist! They might want you on a food-elimination diet to rule out food sensitivities and/or allergies. And don't scratch, which can cause skin sensitivity and tears which will lead to infection. Use Aveeno cream as an anti-itch cream until you get this attended to, and polysporin as a broad-spectrum skin antibiotic if necessary. Your doctor should refer you. Good luck...
Reply:Have your dermatologist check them out, she might be able treat or even suggest removing them. It is a very simple and painless procedure to remove them.

Had ingrown toenail surgery, on side of surgery there is chalky white skin. What is it; how do I treat it?

I had a part of my toenail removed and the doctor used phenol to kill the matrix to prevent growth and possibly future ingrown toenail infections etc. I have been putting excessive antibiotic ointment on the exposed flesh, as well as around it as my doctor ordered. I am not sure if the chalky white skin is cause for alarm, but it seems very odd to me. I have been using my feet sooner than my doctor intended, as I could not miss the UGA game the day after surgery. But I don't see how physical exertion could cause the skin to turn chalky white. It is very limited in area, and is on the side of the toe the surgery occurred on. I've been researching for some time with little to no results. Anybody able to shed some light on this?

Had ingrown toenail surgery, on side of surgery there is chalky white skin. What is it; how do I treat it?
i don't think it's all bad....unless it's hurting you or something. make sure you go low on the "excessive oinment". If it's moist or something let it dry/leave it uncovered...but if it's hurting, you should go to your dr.
Reply:I've been through that procedure several times and ended up having the toenail completely removed, so I know just what you're talking about.

Don't worry, the phenol may have killed part of the skin there or it's white and shrivelly because it hasn't been allowed to breathe since it's bathed in antibiotics. Fret not, it will mend and come back.
Reply:I too had this surgery today.I have to say it the lidocaine was killer. The skin around it can be from the phenol they rubbed on it. I have taken my bandage of to look at it yet but I'm sure I have it too. Just take your happy pills and lay down and all should be well. Soak it in betadine and water. The doctor told me to make sure the water is a dark yellow color. Good luck!

Good hair removal cream wax for extremely sensitive skin?

Hi I am looking for a good hair removal cream/wax combo for extremely sensitive skin. I want to let you know upfront that I need something that is easy maintenance.. The other thing is that I often get a burning sensation.. I am also concerned that I might be pregnant so I dont want anything harsh..but I have way too much dark black hair that is evident.. I used to get laser treatment done but my growth is crazy!

Good hair removal cream wax for extremely sensitive skin?
Not sure if it's safe during pregnancy, but a friend of mine swears by surgi-care facial hair remover cream in the sensitive skin formula. It works but the trick is to keep some moisture on your skin before you apply these creams to prevent the burning sensation and the irritation. Put on some moisturizer and let it absorb into your skin. Then gently rinse your face and pat dry before you put on the hair remover cream. Also, be sure to 1.) don't rub the cream into your skin as the instructions tell you not to, and 2.) don't let the cream dry out on your skin. Pat the cream on your face with lukewarm water to wet it if this happens. Remember, if the product dries out on your skin, it will penetrate deep into your skin and irritate or even burn your skin.
Reply:Try Sally Hansen. She has a line of hair removal products. I have very sensitive skin also, and I have not had any problems. You can find this product at any CVS or grocery store. Mainly at CVS.
Reply:Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.

Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.

Electrolysis and laser hair removal are “permanent” hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

20 month old daughter has lumps under her skin behind both ears about an inch down and inch back?

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their children, she has like 3 lumps under her skin on the neck muscles both sides behind her ears about an inch back and an inch down, I've heard of Calcium deposits, any one experience this with their children, or can anyone check to see if their children have this. Is it part of normal child growth?

20 month old daughter has lumps under her skin behind both ears about an inch down and inch back?
My dear ...you are describing the area that has lymph nodes. I'd take that child to a doctor and be sure to mention this "lumps". Good luck and God Bless that child
Reply:bubonic plaque seriously

I had the same thing but i was much older.

My doctor said that it was caused by stress check your doctor because mabry something is seriously making her uncomfortable mabey an illness. Is she crying a lot.Swollen lymph nodes.Simple treatment.
Reply:My son has one, and i always thought it was a cyst. It's not a normal thing to have lumps. Have a doctor look at them.
Reply:It sounds like it might be that her lymph nodes are swollen, which would mean her body is trying to fight off some kind of illness.
Reply:Swollen lymph nodes. Check with your doctor right away, don't wait.
Reply:Sounds like swollen lymph nodes. Are they under her collarbone, too? If so, she should see a doctor.
Reply:I'm a nurse. Sometimes babies and adults can become ill and their limp nodes can swell and become tender. If she cry when you touch it, I would take her to the doctor. I would take her in just to be on the safe side. It's hard to detect without viewing it for myself. I hope this is useful information. Take care.
Reply:both my young daughters have these lumps ages 1 and 4 , i was really worried about it when i discovered them when my girls were born i asked my health visitor and doctor and was told it could be swollen glands or a small cyst that should go away in time hope this helps although if worried you should ask your health visitor to reassure and put your mind to rest.
Reply:It's the aliens trying to get out!!!

Maybe you should ask your Doctor, no one here can see them, so it would just be a WAG at best.
Reply:My son has this - (it's not a lymph node in his case). The doctor said it was nothing to worry about unless it grows, or more appear in other places. My spouse has this as well, so maybe it's genetic. In the case of my child, it has always been there. If your child just developed this, then I'd say lymph node - but in either case, it's better that a dr see it.
Reply:it could be the ( mumps ) "yes look it up in the dictionary, children get them sometimes" I had them when i was very young also" they "HERT"! there very sore"! children can run a fever with them to" "AND" there even more dangerus to male children" "because" they can drop to males "( testicles )"! there`s nothing you or a doctor can give them for it" it just has to run it`s course" like with colds" just try to keep them comfortable as posable and baby or childrens tylinal"! sometime you can get one, then latter on get the other one" but i think once you`ve had both, i don`t think you can get them again" at less that`s what i`ve heard.
Reply:Hey lymph nodes are swollen. Take her to her ped and show him. Chances are she has a minor sinus infection and so the nodes are working OT to fight it...
Reply:Do you think she has the mumps. Or have you even thought about that.

My good friends husband is on his death bed from skin cancer, have you?

ever heard of anyone, or anyone personally who had skin cancer that eventually spread to their brain?

It's very very sad.

He had a growth on his back, never checked it out until it was too late. it had spread to his lungs and months later reached to his brain unfortunately. This week he is on his death bed I was told.

Any comments on people who are familiar with this tragic situation? please share/I told her I'd post questions on here for her and deliver your answers,.thank you.

My best friend who was 21 at his time of death died with melanoma. Sadly, his cancer did spread to his brain, and he actually died from having pnuemonia.

He died shortly after the cancer went to his brain. It is a very sad, sad disease, and I am sorry that your friend is dealing with this.

Reply:Cancer is an ugly thing. It is a sad story, because if he had it checked out while it was on his back, he'd probably be doing really well right now. Not including melanoma, skin cancer is one of the easiest to treat while it is still local. When it is not treated early, it can metastasize (spread) to other parts of the body. Basically, the cancer (immature skin cells) spread to various parts of the body, like the lungs, and begin to grow there as immature skin cells. So it's like he's got skin growing inside his lungs and brain. I'm so sorry for your friend.
Reply:I saw my cousin die on his deathbed of cancer %26amp; aids combined. :(
Reply:My Aunt ended up with brain cancer, the Dr said it had originated from skin cancer but they never determined where it had come from. The spot was so small it was undetectable because the smallest spot of skin cancer develops spores that grow like the root of a tree into the body. It was horrible towards the end she had a brain op but it was unsuccessful. My last vision of her alive was having the metal frame on her head to hold her skull in place. Until then I didn't realise how serious skin cancer is. It was under a year between her diagnosis and death. I wish you and your friend + husband all the best.

Reply:Pre-natal vitamins are great for hair (and your whole body), you can buy them over the counter, and no, you don't have to be pregnant to take them.

My horse has developed bald patches of skin.No crusty areas, inflamation or scratching. What is it.?

My horse is 3 years old. He has bald patches on his face, thigh, withers, and belly. Also, he is buckskin in color and where there is apparent "normal" hedding, the new hair growth is Grulla in color. I have not seen him itching. The spots are the size of a small dinner plate. The bare skin is not crusty, swollen, or red and does not appear to be irritated in any way. Does anyone have any idea of what this might be? There are no flies uot yet. Also I have him on a wait gainer/coat inhancer supplement (for 2 weeks now) could ths have anything to do with it?

My horse has developed bald patches of skin.No crusty areas, inflamation or scratching. What is it.?
One form of dermatitis in horses is known as the Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex is one that has no itch or scabbing.

In horses, the lesions that result from the disease are nodular, do not ulcerate, and do not itch. They often occur in the saddle area and have a gray-white central core.

Horses with multiple lesions can be treated with oral prednisone or prednisolone which you can get from the vet.

Youre best bet tho is to get a skin scraping and have it tested for bacteria, or to see if its anything at all.

Best of luck.
Reply:Is he out in the rain without any cover? You need to call a vet.
Reply:Your horse might be having a reaction to the supplement. Some horses are more sensitive than others, it's a natural thing. I would take him off the supplement and call the vet. If it's not the supplement I'd say it might be a fungus, akin to rain rot or maybe even ringworm. (Just ideas.) Either way, call your vet. He or She can do bloodwork and other tests to give you a better idea of treatment.
Reply:There is the possibility that the horse is just shedding. Some horses will shed the hair right down to the skin. You should still give the vet a call.

Questions re: Diagnosing HPV vs. "Normal" Skin Tags?

Hello,

I'm a 29yo Male. I have no health insurance, so I'm hoping you can answer some questions for me that might help me diagnose whether I have HPV or just normal skin tags.

All told, I have about 6-8 spots I'm concerned about. They are located on the shaft of my penis, th scrotum, and near the thigh. Several sources have indicated HPV will ALWAYS include warts on the TIP of the penis--since I have nothing near the tip, am I OK?

Next, my lesions (?) have been the same for a few years--no growth, nothing new, nothing disappeared. Is that typical of HPV?

Finally, I've read that VINEGAR will turn HPV warts white. I've tried applying common vinegar to myself, and seen no color change. Will HPV warts always react this way?

Thanks. Hope this helps some others, too.

Questions re: Diagnosing HPV vs. "Normal" Skin Tags?
Hey dude .... go to your local health department and have these growths diagnosed by a doctor ... Internet diagnoses could lead to the loss of something near and dear to you if it happens to be cancer.
Reply:Please see the webpage for more details on Genital wart, Genital sores-male and Human papilloma virus.

Genital warts are assumed to be caused by HPV, but other tests can be done to identify whether a person is carrying the virus, including biopsy. However, none has been totally reliable. Scientists say some people may have been told they have the virus when they do not because HPV-type changes may be similar to normal anatomical variations.

Which method of hair removal reduces skin irritation and is a good long term fix?

What method of hair removal do you reccommend (besides shaving)? I'd be willing to save money for an expensive procedure. I just want to find a good way to remove hair before my wedding in a year.

I have excessive, dark hair on my stomach (I was told that it is a hormonal problem known as "hirsutism"). I read that a doctor can help me prevent more hair growth, but the existing hair will remain unless I use a hair removal method.

I would either like to use laser treatment or Electrolysis for my stomach. But I read that Electrolysis might leave scars. How severe are the scars?

For my legs, I could settle for a short term fix, like waxing. Does waxing irritate the skin?

I'd go with laser treatment, but I read that it can take 4-10 sessions to get rid of hair completely. Does that mean that I would have to deal with somewhat hairy legs for months?

My concern with Electrolysis is scars.

I'd appreciate any advice or information, thanks.

Which method of hair removal reduces skin irritation and is a good long term fix?
Since there's an excessive amount of hair in that area maybe laser would be a better choice. I've been getting laser hair removal on my face and now on my 5th treatment. My skin is darker toned so they had to use a special laser. It was a little painful for me the first time and right after the procedure there was some redness but it goes away. About maybe five days post (every) treatment the hair began to grow back but then fell out on its own after a week or so! If you can't deal with the regrowth for a week it's okay to shave it or even better use an electronic trimmer so that you don't get razor bumps, I've seen small ones that are better to use on the body. Any other ways of removing hair (during the laser treatments) can disturb the hair follicles and probably irritate the skin even more because I noticed the area treated becomes more sensitive.

After the first treatment, and falling out of regrown hair, the hair did grow back again but slower than usual. When I got to the next sessions I noticed the hair didn't grow back for weeks (well after the regrowth fell out first) or until it was time for another session. After some time the hair grows back lighter and finer. It's takes patience but I love it because it lasts and I don't have to worry about removing the hair every three days.

I think electrolysis is good to use for very small areas. With electrolysis a tiny needle is darted into each hair follicle and that can be very painful, more so than laser. I also think that this way of removing hair can be very irritating to the skin being that an instrument is sticking the area repeatedly. So yeah scars are more likely to appear with this procedure.

Waxing can irritate the skin but can be prevented sometimes. Maybe you can use a natural wax that's gentler on the skin. I don't wax my legs but I do wax my eyebrows. To reduce irritation after I wax my eyebrows I wait about 5 min then rinse with cold water, pat dry, then apply aloe vera gel which helps heal skin and get rid of redness. The redness goes away in minutes and the area is no longer irritated. Maybe that can work after waxing the legs too! I use the clear aloe vera gel instead of the green one because of the funny smell it has. The green aloe vera gel smells because it has a numbing ingredient (lidocaine I think) which is probably better to use if there's itching or burning sensation after waxing.

Whatever you do, I suggest you rule out the electrolysis because of the high risk of damaging your skin. I'm sorry about my long answer lol!

Good luck with your decision and congradulations wife to be!
Reply:Most definately, Lazor
Reply:loyal
Reply:I would try waxing, it shouldn't irritate the skin or anything of that sort. After a week or two bumps might appear, but that is about it! :)

As for an actual "fix", Look into laser treatment and see if there are any alternatives available.

Questions re: Diagnosing HPV vs. "Normal" Skin Tags?
Genital warts can appear all over the genital area not just the shaft and scrotum. They can appear anywhere in the genital area, even the **** and anus region. So, just because you don't necessarily have them on the tip of your penis doesn't mean that it's not genital warts.

What kind of lesions are you talking about? HPV usually doesn't cause lesions. There are over 100 different kinds of HPV and about a dozen cause warts and I believe it's 8 kinds that can cause cervical cancer.

As for the vinegar thing that's just not true. Doctors can use vinegar on a women's' cervix to detect abnormal cells on the cervix (typically caused by HPV). The cells on the cervix will "lit up" when vinegar is applied to them. This is called a coloscopy procedure. Please DO NOT use vinegar again on them.

You really should try and see a doctor about this. Maybe try Planned Parenthood.

Biotin to hair skin and nails.?

i used a bottle of Biotin(about 3 a day) for about a month or a little more. i didnt see a huge difference though so I switched to GNC's Hair Skin and Nails. I've only been taking them for 2 days how long until I get results on my hair growth?

Biotin to hair skin and nails.?
Biotin is water soluble hun, which means excess that your body cannot use is washed out of the body in your urine, and the human body can only use about 300mcg of biotin a day- so it doesn't matter how much of it you take, its for how long you take it.

dermadoctor.com You will find out the recommended amount of Biotin to take. As far as results go, unless your diet was highly deficient in Biotin, you will not see results for about 3 months, yes, 12 weeks. That is the standard waiting period. Better yet, you might want to visit a dermatologist is your hair will not grow.

THis sounds like something for an MD to look at. It's impossible to know without examining it and seeing its perimeter and getting more background what this is. But I'd absolutely make an appt. to see a doctor. There are things that are nothing, and things that show there is possibly something. And a scabby thing that doesn't heal can be sign of clotting deficiencies, cancer etc. OR, it can mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Like he's picking at it and that's why it's continually opening. Could be easily treatable. Like an ingrown hair.

So if I were you I'd go to see a doctor rather than asking us on here.

Good luck.
Reply:Use aloe vera.
Reply:Go to a dermotoligist!!!!
Reply:Try puting a bandage and disinfecting it and if that does not work go to the doctor or a skin specialist.
Reply:Staph (pronounced "staff") is medical quick speak for staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This pesky little bacterium is very common (many people have some living on their skin all the time), but when it enters the human body, usually through an open cut or break in the skin, it can cause infection and trouble anywhere in the body. Staph infections tend to be pus-producing. Common minor (or relatively minor) skin infections caused by staph include:

Folliculitis

Infections of hair follicles that cause itchy white pus-filled bumps on the skin (often where people shave or have irritations from skin rubbing against clothes)

Boils

Infections deeper within hair follicles that leave large, frequently red inflammations (often occur on the face or neck)

Styes

Infection of the follicle surrounding the eyelashes, causing a sore red bump in the eyelid

Impetigo

The infection kids often get around their mouths and noses that causes blisters and red scabby skin

Abscesses

Infection characterized by pus and swelling that can occur in the skin and in any other organ.

Staph infection is also the leading culprit behind cases of food poisoning, and can be to blame for larger life threatening conditions, such as Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), pneumonia, bone infections (osteomyelitis), mastitis in nursing mothers, endocarditis (infection of the inside of the heart), and bacteremia (blood infection). People who are otherwise healthy typically do not usually become severely ill from staph infections, but those at special risk, who have weakened immune systems, include:

persons with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, cancer, lung disease, kidney disease, or HIV/AIDS

people with various skin conditions

the elderly

newborns

people recovering from major surgery

injection drug users (especially those who reuse needles)

people whose immune systems are weakened due to steroid use, radiation therapy, cancer treatment, immunosuppressive medications

women who are breastfeeding

Health care professionals can determine that staph (and not some other bacteria) is the cause of an infection by taking a culture (usually a swab from what looks like a giant Q-tip) from the infected site. Once staph has been diagnosed, the provider will prescribe antibiotics that are known to work on that specific strain of the bacteria. These antibiotics (usually either pills or creams applied to the infected body part) typically kill the bacteria and cure the infection within a week or two.

Hospitals are working to stamp out staph infections, in part because the majority of hospital patients fall into at least one "at-risk" category, but also because of drug-resistant strains of staph, including the particularly virulent MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) strain. Antibiotic-resistance means that strains of staph aren't killed by one or more of the antibiotics that are commonly used to treat staph infections. These strains of staph are becoming an increasingly common threat and while they do not always cause worse or different infections than non-resistant strains, they can be much harder to treat because the most common (and easiest to use) antibiotics may not be effective. People with resistant staph infections may require hospitalization to receive antibiotics through an IV or by injection. Unfortunately some staph infections can even be fatal. Check out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for more information about MRSA.

Because improper use of antibiotics can help produce resistance to drugs, making future infections much harder to treat, the American Medical Association recommends that patients:

follow the directions for any prescription exactly

take all of the medicine prescribed (even if one feels better after only a few days)

never save old, leftover prescriptions for future use

never take anyone else's prescription antibiotics

Other preventative measures are careful treatment of all skin conditions, including wound care after trauma or surgery, IV drug users taking precautions when injecting, and people with special risk factors being attentive to early symptoms of staph. You can also reduce your risk by not sharing needles, razors, sheets, towels, and athletic equipment. Of course, general hygiene is also important; regular hand-washing and bathing (with soap) can help prevent many types of infections. If you have a skin wound that becomes infected, it's a good idea to visit a health care provider. They can test for staph infection, and give you any necessary treatment
Reply:don't pick the scab ....... it will go away faster if you don't mess with it ....... if all else fails go see a dermatologist !!!!!! ......... i also forgot to ad to put a banage on it and dont pick the scab !!!
Reply:This is a sign of infection for sure. Some scab/puss filled areas may be a sigh of staph infection, impetigo or shingles. Only ati-biotics can fix this so I'd see a Dr ASAP!

Good Luck!
Reply:Definately take him to the doctors as it sounds as though whatever it is it could now be infected. It could be something as simple as an infected spot ,or perhaps something like scabies (easily treated with lotion)

Either way ,the doctor will put your mind at rest.

Good luck!
Reply:Could be just about anything. Take him to a doctor.
Reply:I would suggest taking him to the doctor. My daughter had a sore and it ended up being MRSCA and had to go to the hospital and put on iv antibiotics. It is very contagious.

Be careful. Get it checked NOW!!!!

Has anyone used Nutrilite for Hair, Skin & Nails?

Does it really help nail growth and is it a really good product to use? I ordered it online for 19.95. I need to stay healthy and keep my skin %26amp; nails healthy and read that this is a good product to take for all three, nails, hair %26amp; skin.

Has anyone used Nutrilite for Hair, Skin %26amp; Nails?
It is going to be about the same result for you as taking just a regular multivitamin and mineral supplement daily. Sometimes when you use a specialty product that is expensive, it also keeps you focused on taking better care of your nails and hair so that you will get the most benefit from your investment, when in reality it is your care and attention that are the most benefit. The Nutrilite is not a bad product, it is just more expensive than a regular vitamin. You can help out any vitamin by also trying to eat a balanced diet as well.
Reply:Yes it is good. You have to wait a while to see results, you might think about taking in a long term, say 3 months onward, although you can see the resluts in the first month, if you want the results to be permanent either take them for life or begin a healthy diet with lots of fruits, veggies, and fish, like salmon, its fats are the good kind that actually help you maintain a healthy weight and healthy skin, nails, and hair. (Also try eating avocados, one a day)

Getting rid of hair when you have sensitive skin!?

I have a light growth of dark hair on my back. You can't really even tell unless it's light out, but it bothers me. What sucks is I have really sensitive skin. When I wax or shave, I get bumps on my skin-not zits tho. (I apologize if you didn't want to hear that) I've tried puttting calming lotion on immediately after, but it doesn't help. Bleach cream burns so much, because, like I said, I have a very light layer so it goes straight to my skin. Please help me fix this problem. Maybe an herbal solution? Thanks.

Getting rid of hair when you have sensitive skin!?
Hi,

the best would be going to an arab shop and getting the sugar "wax" (shokkar, shekker). then get some cicatrizing cream from your chemists ( I get epitheliale AH from a-derma), and put that on just after washing off the sugar with warm water... I can even wax "down there" without getting "ingrown hairs"...
Reply:buy those specially formulated for sensitive skin
Reply:ignore it
Reply:maybe try nair - they just came out with a new sensitive formula thats formulated especially for sensitive skin.
Reply:i dont have a solution but definitly do NOT use nair i have sensitive skin on my legs and face and like everywhere and i tried to use nair on my leggs and it left burn marks everywhere on my legs and hurt really bad.
Reply:use laser hair removal. I am going to get it done. they say you won't regret it once its done. Check out

www.idealimage.com
Reply:get some for sensitive skin,it helps clam it down
Reply:put a paste of gram flour on ur back. let it dry. n then remove it with circular hand movement. it ll not only remove d hair, it ll stop dem from growin further in course of time.

Any natural/home remedies that can help me with my face skin?

I have combination skin i.e. oily at T-zone. Both of my cheek is kind of dehydrated skin with large pores. Recently, I noticed there are 02 or 03 dot of growth - looks like bubbles. Not big and only like small pimples. I am sure they are not pimple, there is no pain at all unless I am try to scratch it. Is there anyway to get rid of it by not spending to a lot of money at the beauty salon? Need help, please.

Any natural/home remedies that can help me with my face skin?
My doctor told me to use DOVE soap
Reply:i wash with white dial soap. then to top it off, a bit of lemon juice and egg whites. mix it togather and rub a small bit into your skin. works better than anything!
Reply:tell you what works great for exfoliating is baking soda mixed with a little vinegar..try it and get back to me...good luck
Reply:try to steam your face and then try and squeeze it out with black head remover. Once you have done this...wash your face with good soap and cold water.
Reply:You are taking a very scientific approach to this topic, but unfortunately, not entirely scientific ENOUGH. Do not accept skin impurities and the conditions you describe as a natural state or norm in any way. They are the result of refined substances associated with our lifestyles here in the Western world, and stem from complex processes inside your body, triggered largely by certain foods. Ever heard the saying "your skin is like your tummy's insides"? Try this: Choose a diet which totally cuts out refined products, and go straight for organic fruit and veg, some fish, poultry, and native, cold-pressed oils. Get rid of sugar, white flour, milk, milk products (exception: butter and cream), and reduce coffee, tea, and alcohol. Give it three months. Your skin problems will have disappeared entirely at the rate at which your digestion system adapts to the superior foods.

Stretch marks, skin elasticity, and pregnancy?

I used to be 50 lbs heavier and have stretch marks from then. Luckily, my skin has so far adjusted with the weight loss...I think. It seems like I'll lose some weight, my tummy will sag a lil, then it'll appear to tighten up. Sorta like it's catching up with the weight loss. Then I lose another 5 lbs, and it continues cyclically. I'm only 25 %26amp; losing the weight at a good pace (usually 2 lbs a weeks thru healthy diet %26amp; exercise), so I'm hoping that when I lose the next 50 lbs and get to my goal weight, I wont have a belly that touches my knees.

Anybody successfully had their tummy (or other areas too) "snap" back naturally, or am I just imagining that my tummy varies in sagginess?

Also, I haven't had kids yet, will the already acquired stretch marks provide for growth of the tummy when I do have kids, or will I get a whole new set of stretch marks?

Stretch marks, skin elasticity, and pregnancy?
I think you will get a whole new set of strech marks. I have two kids and two sets of stretch marks. Sorry.. maybe you will be luckier ..
Reply:i think that if you get kids, the old stretch~marks will be there but the newer ones are the ones that will show.. I think.. I don't know...I am only in middle school.. how should i know this?? i just took a guess...
Reply:well, it depends where your stretch marks are right now, but if you keep your skin moisturized really well thoughout your pregnancy you won't get very many stretch marks at all! \

Skin hair and nails vitamins.......??????
Prenatal vitamins make you hair and nails grow like crazy.
Reply:It will just make your hair healthier, I dont think it will make it thicker
Reply:Sometimes they make your hair thicker but it just depends on the type your hair is, everyone's hair acts differntly to differnt stuff! Just go with what you think!
Reply:I HOPE IT MAKES IT THICKER! B/C i'm taking the same thing to make my hair thicker! hahahaha. if not.. i'm pretty much sol
Reply:perfect answer BIOTIN you can buy it at the health store
Reply:don't go on any vitamins or pills. the best way for hai to stay shiny and strong is to:

mix olive oila dn one egg put ur hair into a plastic bag and leave it over night

and as for nails carefully heat up a bit of olivie oil ( not too hot make it luke warm in the microave for about 20-30 secs)

if u hav trouble styling ur hair, dn't do ur hair as soon as u get out of the shower bcuz hair that's wayy too clean ends up having a bad effect on your style and will eventually frizz (take this from a person who's mom has a hair formula that grows hair back...it's called NUEVA HAIR RESCUE.) ;)
Reply:Believe it or not but Jello is great for your nails.
Reply:Beta-Carotene, which your body converts to vitamin A, good for hair, skin, nails. Good to have some oif it, but bad to have too much. Also, gelatine in your diet is good for nails.

Skin bridge on penis?

i have a small skin bridge on my penis, about 0.3 inches long. it is not a problem, i was just wondering will it affect sex or growth later on. i only have 1

Skin bridge on penis?
It probably won't cause much of a problem. You'll need to clean under it or it could get gross or infected (at worst). If it's tight it could pull penis towards it uncomfortably. It could break during rough sex (which could hurt, but then you'll never have to worry about it). It shouldn't have any effect on growth.

If you want it removed the procedure is really simple and really quick. And it shouldn't hurt much (if at all?) and the recovery time should be really short. Your general doctor is probably able to perform this procedure, and if not, consult a urologist.
Reply:Be carefull, it might take it's toll on you.
Reply:Pity you, you only have one. You mean penis?

That bridge you talk about - everyone has it. After you grow up to be 18 or 20, watch some porno movies. You will notice when they show the close up the performer's penis, it has that bridge.

Every man has one.
Reply:i don't think it will cause a problem, however during an erection it may cause your penis to pull to one side and it is hard to clean in under. need to make sure no matter how hard it is, keep it clean under the bridge, can cause infection....surgical repaire is the only option to correct it..
Reply:that's gross.

My dog has a "skin tag" that has gotten so big, I need to know what to do.?

He has always had a black mole -like growth on the outer part of his chest...everyone assumes it is a nipple or skin tag. For 6 years it has looked the same, then 2 days ago it started swelling, and filling up with fluid. It is now the same color he is , brown, but as it continues to grow I can see the skin stretching so it will probably get lighter in color. Right now it is resembling a large acorn in every way, just no acorn hat, :) or a large brown grape. He is fixated on it now and licks it all the time. It looks gross, looks like it could be painful, and honestly I am afraid he might try to chew it off. How serious could this acorn be and is it a nipple, mole, what? He is a boxer rott mix, and I have noticed a few other spots that are small but black and fleshy kind of like this one used to be. Any advice would be great. Vet says 400 dollars to remove it, but I am a couple zeros shy so is there a home remedy? thanx much!

My dog has a "skin tag" that has gotten so big, I need to know what to do.?
take him to the vet and have them look at hit because it could be a type of cancer or disease and you may want to take care of it before it gets worse
Reply:id take him to a diffrent vet because my vet removed something like that off my dog and charge around 80
Reply:Anything that changes like that can be a problem. You should make an appointment with the vet and have it taken care of. No home remedies for something like that.. A vet does NOT charge $400 to remove a skin tag, and does not charge $400 to remove a tumor.. If yours does, then he is ripping you off and it's time for a new vet.
Reply:Try phoning a local humane society and asking them for help. They may be able to give you the name of a Vet that will be cheaper or do you have an organisation like the PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) that help people on low incomes get proper Vet Care. (Perhaps the local humane society will do it or know if there is one available)

Not sure how much $400 is in UK£'s but it seems expensive! He does need to see someone though so I hope you can get help soon. Good Luck!
Reply:I cannot understand why you are asking this question when it is OBVIOUS that poor dog is suffering and needs immediate treatment..Did you ever think before you got that dog that it might need medical treatment and to take out an insurance for just that?..If you love your dog then you'll find that money from somewhere..Dogs are not just for christmas..it's for life..I hate cruelty to animals

Red skin lesion on toddler's face?

I have a 12 month old son who had a flesh colored, pimple look-a-like (but no puss or excessively raised) growth on his cheek, which started to appear about 10 days ago. He had it for a couple of days and one day it turned red and had seemed to have grown. I scheduled to have him checked out that day and the doctor looked at him for litterally 3 minutes and claimed the lesion to be eczema (eventhough he never once scratched that spot or seemed to appear to be itchy there). She gave him some atopic dermatitis creme and said it should dissapear in 4 days,2 days later (today) the skin and the lesion just seem to have gotten more agetated and the redness seems to have spread. I think the creme is too harsh for his skin and it doesn't seem to help. I am going to bring him to the doctor again today, but I was wondering if anyone had any clue or any info on what this could be. The lesion right now is pretty flat and red, but if you look closely the center is more yellow than red...

Red skin lesion on toddler's face?
bring up the subject of roscea . I got that once and it sounds like the symptoms of what i had . I hope you do find out though . good luck .
Reply:This doesnt sound like Eczema but might be the start of Impertigo?....That starts with red skin lesions but they turn ***** and tend to spread alot and its certainly not nice so its worth getting checked out and if your not happy with the verdict then see another doc.

I hope it ends up being nothing bad.

Skin tags?

I asked a question a while ago about a growth on my neck which i got quite a few answers for and have found out that it is a skin tag. So thank you for my answers.

The problem now is that this skin tag has become really itchy and has changed from being skin colour to dark brown. Any ideas to what might have happened? im not wanting to go to my doctor if it is nothing to worry about.

Thanks!

Skin tags?
I was one of the people to answer yu as i have a skin tag myself, i would definately go and get it checked out if it is itchy as this does nto sound normal.

i hope you get it sorted, good luck
Reply:Ask your doctor.
Reply:for your own saftey and peace of mind please go to the Dr

Advice is always it it changes in appearance color or is itchy get it seen to.

Go on make an apt or you will always worry
Reply:If i was you i would go and see my doctor. It probably is nothing to worry about but it might be best to get medical advice rather than leave it.
Reply:I had one on the back of my ear, and scratched it and it came off. There was loads and loads of blood, but at least I have got rid of it.
Reply:You should totally go to the doctor if anything like that changes! Seriously, do get it looked at by a professional! I had one once on my breast (looked so weird!) and I got it removed. They froze it off which didn't hurt a bit and I can't even say where it was now! Not a hint of a scar!!

DO go to the doc!! Good luck hun!
Reply:get yourself to the doctors !!! any skin tag or freckle that changes colour or appearance needs to be examined - i don't want to scare u, but sometimes it can be the first sign of skin cancer. it probably won't be that (hopefully), but better safe than sorry. only your doctor will know for sure if the changes u describe are worth worrying about or not. hope it turns out well for u.
Reply:Do what everyone else does (if its just a skin tag) take scissors and snip it off.. or pay yer dermatologist big money to do the same damn thing.. yer choice...

If yer worried about the change.. by all means see yer dermatologist..
Reply:go to the doctor - dark brown isnt a good colour especially if it is risen - it may just be a skin irratation have you changed soaps or anything?
Reply:go to the doc right now!! i don't like the sound of that!! better safe than sorry i say. good luck hun.
Reply:Only a dr can determine what is going on with this skin tag, or if it's something else going on. I would recommend having this evaluated by your dr to see what they think.
Reply:You really need to go to the doctors and have it checked out. You should always get any growth on the skin which changes looked at. Go today to put your mind at rest. Good luck x
Reply:sounds like the blood supply has been damaged somehow and it's going to fall off, but best to seek medical advice direct via your GP or practise nurse

when my son was born he too had a skin tag near his ear which was removed when he was about 4 months old.

so maybe you should see your doctor and get him to remove it, it's a simple process and can be done there and then no worries, it doesn't hurt.
Reply:Sometimes a skin tag gets caught up in or irritated by jewellery or clothing. If this happens it bleeds a little and sometimes dries up and gets itchy. I am presuming this is what has happened, and it may be scabbing up.

If it was a mole and it changed colour that would be something that needs to be checked by a doctor, but if you are positive that its only a skin tag, my understanding is that they are not dangerous.
Reply:I get rid of my skin tags by breaking off the circulation to them just the skin tag and applying a fungal over the counter cream to them . it take a few days but they do fall off . you may want to get a bi opsy of it done by your regular doctor Insist on one ! to make sure its not something more serious
Reply:Do you think it might be better to email NHS direct rather than yahoo answers? or are you mental?

If our bodies are in constant flux and re-celluar growth, how do are tattoos stay on our skin?

The ink is at such a deep level that the new skin cells mostly grow around it or on top of it.

If our bodies are in constant flux and re-celluar growth, how do are tattoos stay on our skin?
this is exactly what i was wondering the other day.
Reply:Tattoos are on the Dermis (inside skin, above the muscles) and not the epidermis (the outside skin)
Reply:we dunt duble or triple our size every day .. esp after puberty ... tattoos eventualy do get etched ..like when u turn ure 60 ull see that its faded .. and tattoos are imprinted into our skin not on .. so we cant just put on moisturizer on our skin and call it a tattooless day :) hehe im not sure of wut i just sed but yea hardy har har
Reply:I was told (when i asked this in biology) that the ink from the tattoos went between the two layers of skin, and thats how they stay in place, of course when one's skin stretches the tattoo will too. so be careful where you get it done.

How healthy is fried chicken w/out the skin?

I don't have the time to prepare meals, %26amp; I need a good bit of protein to support my muscle growth, so just how healthy is KFC if I pick the skin off? Also, if anyone could get me nutrition info, that'd be great too. I looked on KFC's site but didn't find it. Thanks!

How healthy is fried chicken w/out the skin?
the skin is fatty so that helps, but sorry to burst ur bubble KFC is bad its all deep fried so its still really greasy aka bad for ya. Try like McDonalds Grilled Chicken Salad or the Grilled chicken sandwich.
Reply:Anything that is fried is not good for you due to the grease and oil. But by taking the skin if will make it much better. If I get fried chicken I normally take the skin off. There probably isn't any for KFC, since there food is fried and greasy.
Reply:Skinless is the only way I will eat my chicken. KFC is so darned expensive, though. You do safe a great deal of fat and calories by taking the skin off.
Reply:I'd say the chicken will probably die.
Reply:hmm thats a good question but look at my question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... and go to the site i posted thats 1 cool chicken am i right

How to grow skin?

Biotech Hobbyist Starter Skin Kit

It is time to wrest tissue culture from the privileged hegemony of the lab and relocate it to your kitchen. The recipe for cultivating tissue culture is simple, but just like a Tamagotchi it takes a bit of tending. The game is to see how long you can keep your culture alive. In order to grow skin you need three essential ingredients:

1. A Cell Line (preferably immortal)

o Cambrex--Human endothelial cells

o American Type Culture Collection-cell line catalog

2. Growth Medium

o Cambrex--Endothelial cell medium

o Clonetics--Endothelial cell medium

3. A Body Temperature Growth Environment

o Economy Incubator--$325.85

o KwikCulture Incubator--$80.00

o Brinsea Avian Incubator--$93.50

o Hova-Bator Incubator--$59.50

o Incubators Value Line

o www.scientific-surplus.com often has cheap used incubators for sale

Is it as simple as putting the cell line on the growth medium and incubating or how would you do it?

How to grow skin?
yea, it's simple as u see.

but the problem is how to take the cells sample.

and how u purifie them.

them to put the clone into human skin it's a very difficult process.

since any impuroties may cause allergic reactions.

Various beauty/skin care questions...any product recommendations?

1. I have friends/family who smoke and I work in a club where there's a lot of smokers: what products are there that protect/repair skin from smoke (and pollution, etc.)?

2. Is microdermabrasion the best procedure for evening out skin tone in the face/neck and reducing wrinkles (I also heard it stimulates collagen growth), or is there something else that works better for this? Or a product like a lotion or something?

3. Is there any product for the body that evens out skin tone? (Like reducing redness in the knee area so legs are all one even color?)

Thanks!

If you had skin cancer, could you pick off your abnormal mole/growth and be cured?

Most likely not, most skin cancers are deeper than just the surface of the skin and then there is always the chance that the cancer has metastasized to another part of the body.

If you suspect skin cancer, please go see your dermatologist or GP ASAP.

If you had skin cancer, could you pick off your abnormal mole/growth and be cured?
No.
Reply:no, you need to be seen by a dermatologist and or oncologist.
Reply:no unless you can DIG the cancer out. moles are not just on the surface. i'd get a referal to a dermatologist asap especially if you think you have skin cancer.
Reply:I'm a medical student and i think i do know this question and the right answer. it really deplanes on how far the cancer has spread and what it had affected already. if you removed the mole and the cancer just started you would just need to go through medicines and more stuff. hope i helped for any other questions please write to me at sweethunnme@yahoo.com thats me email adress
Reply:no. there are several kinds of skin cancers. the bad ones spread through your blood vessels and even if you remove the growth that you actually see, the cancer is all over and you can't see it.
Reply:no, cancer spreads and a doctor has to do a very meticulous operation involving teeny tiny skin cells that are looked under a microscope.

my sister had skin cancer and they had to remove it from her face and it was just this white spot so...you never know. and the surgery lasted over three hours.
Reply:You have got to be kidding me! My father is dying of lung cancer, no, you cannot pick cancer off of yourself, you have to be kidding me. This is a seriously life-threatening disease. You have to treat it and take care of it. It will kill you if you don't. Picking a cancerous mole will make it grow back...
Reply:Not at all . It can go deep into the tissue ; and all the corners need to be removed . Sometimes it's possible for some of the carcinoma or melanoma to be missed during surgery unless you have the MOHS procedure by a dermatologist skilled in MOHS . A biopsy of the tissue will dictate if you need to return for more surgery . With the MOHS procedure , however , the biopsy is done before your surgery is complete - to be certain they have removed it all . There is no possible way for anyone to "pick off" cancer .
Reply:You theoretically could, IF the cancer was in a very early stage and you made sure to get ALL of it COMPLETELY...although at that point it is usually classified as "pre-cancerous". But simply "picking" it off isn't going to work, it's highly unlikely you would get all the abnormal cells by such a method, because a good portion of it is under the skin too (sort of like the difficulty squeezing a zit by hand to get ALL the crap out on the very first try).

Most likely what would happen is that you would create a wound with only half or less of the cancer cells removed...and that would also create a weak spot on your skin that would actually be more susceptible to spreading further infection, which would ultimately make the growth worse than before.

"Pre-cancerous" moles mean that it has already started to spread under the skin, but are still shallow enough to be frozen off or removed by laser. Anything "cancerous" requires surgery or more drastic measures, because it would be spread too deep beneath the skin to be removed by surface methods.

Reply:ORGANIC and only organic. It will make your body work better because there's nothing unnatural in it.
Reply:water and green leafy vegetables give you soft skin. for hairgrowth try mulitvitamins!
Reply:To speed hair growth, lots of protein and gelatin. You can buy "Knox" packets at the grocery store and if you add them to something you drink they will stimulate your hair to grow. Doesn't cure baldness, though. Nothing does.

For nice, soft skin....olive oil. I would also recommend taking a vitamin E supplement every day. My grandmother was a big believer in Vitamin E and that's why when she died at 89 she looked 69. Not bad!

Good luck!

I just read that something called "biotin" helps with hair, eyelashes, skin and nails. Myth or truth?

I just read that something called "biotin" is a natural way to enhance growth of hair, eyelashes, etc., as well as skin and nails. Is this something new? Is it bogus? Anyone had experience with this?

I just read that something called "biotin" helps with hair, eyelashes, skin and nails. Myth or truth?
Truth. I've taken it everyday for the past two years after it was recommended to a family member to help with her thinning hair. It made my hair thicker and healthier. My nails, which I have never been able to grow, are now long and strong - I don't break one everytime I move. I strongly recommend Biotin.
Reply:Well, the only way that I have ever gotten my nails or hair to grow was by increasing the amount of protein I consumed. And, you can buy a special type of gelatin called "Knox". After about a month of drinking it, you'll probably notice an improvement in your hair and new nail growth. Fingernails grow very slowly, so don't be upset if you don't see the effects right away.
Reply:Yes, my beautician recently told me about biotin. It is said to increase hair and nail growth and improve your skin. I've done alot of research online and have found that it cannot harm you in any way. I just started taking it yesterday so I can't inform you of any results. I have shoulder length hair in the front, the rear is down my back but I want it all the same length and thicker. From what I read online it is suppose to help me in those areas. So we'll see.

I say GO FOR IT!
Reply:I just started taking it about two weeks ago to help with my hair growth as well. I was told to take with food and along with Centrum to maximum effects. I haven't noticed any changes yet. I was told I wouldn't notice any changes until about after a month or so. I think you should go ahead and try as well, it is really cheap so if it doesn't work then it's not a huge loss. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this works for me. Good luck.

I have a painful growth under where my ring was, on my ring finger...could it be a wart? It's skin colored

It's skin colored, like a bump, the area surrounding it is red, and it hurts slightly. It's right under where my ring was. What is it and what can I do about it?

if your not allergic to the metal of the ring it might be a wart in that case:

Apple Cider Vinegar

10 Yea

2/11/2007: Kelli from Charleston, SC writes, "For some reason I had this wart growing on my thumb for a few months. It was embarrassing and ugly and I just wanted it to go away!!! Anyway, found this site and decided to try the Apple Cider vinegar. Seriously, IT WORKS!! It's REALLY weird writing this after just a few days, but I'm wearing a bandage on my thumb right now covering a completely healed wart. Tomorrow I'm going to start the banana peel treatment for 10-year old plantar's warts. I'll be checking in with the results. :)"

Remedy #1: Banana Peels

Didn't think the ol' banana peel had any uses, huh? Think again! It gets rid of warts and when toasted to a crisp, gives roses and other flowers a huge boost of potassium to help them flower. Gardeners swear by it!

How it works: Loads of potassium in the banana peel.

Recipe: Rub the inside of a little piece of a banana peel on a wart every night. You should see results within one to two weeks.
Reply:it is probably a callous that was irritated. See a doctor if it continues to hurt you.

stop asking the same thing over and over...see a dermatologist,,,,and quit picking at it...
Reply:Dude.

It's probably just a blister. Happens to me all the time when I'm wearing heels. No big deal. Just put some cream or fast medication on it, it'll go away if you just leave it alone as well. Try to avoid wearing your ring for a while.

I´m pretty sure that it´s not a big deal. Maybe you´ve been washing your hands with your ring in. Soap and water remained between your finger and the ring and you didn´t notice it was damp inside and...day by day Surprise! you got a wound. Try not to wear your ring withing a couple or weeks or until it gets better and when it disappears take care of taking off your ring a dry your whole hand.

Hope have helped!

Do keloids every peel when skin is dry or wet?

I think I may have keloids' on my middle and ring finger, however, I do not know if keloids sometimes peel when skin gets really dry or wet because my growth does. Could someone please help? I sure would appriciate it.

Do keloids every peel when skin is dry or wet?
Yes they do. My husband has some on his chest and back. Do not let your skin dry out and try not to irrate them by having anything touch or rub them. His have actually gone down because he would always scratch them and i would slap his hand and put anti itch cream on them.

There are also creams that reduce keloids that you can use that they sell at the drug store.

Can you describe the growth and repair cycle of the skin?

platelets clot blood. skin cells reproduce. scab falls off. skin covers over it and thats it

On my upper cheek i have a solid bump under my skin( and I don't think it's a pimple cuz it won't pop. So does

The bump is the color of my skin but when i stretch my skin it looks like a long white growth underneath

On my upper cheek i have a solid bump under my skin( and I don't think it's a pimple cuz it won't pop. So does
It's probably a cyst. Harmless. If it grows quickly, changes in color, has off symmetry or hurts, see a doctor. If you don't want a bump on your face, your doctor can remove it, but it might be considered 'cosmetic' surgery, so your insurance might not cover it. It would probably involve some lidocaine, a scalpel, and a few stitches.
Reply:Go to Walgreen's and get a tin of Prid salve. When you open this it looks like axle grease. Take a small glob of this and place on the bump when youre going to bed Place a band aid over this to hold it in place. This salve will make the bump draw to a head over night and you can pop it. This salve is great stuff reasonably cheap and if it doesent work it will not hurt you so what have you got to lose. Ive used this and it's great.

How to now if a cat has skin cancer?

i took my cat to the vet recently and the vet said she might have skin cancer. My cat has a pink growth/lump just under her eyelid. It looks really painful we have tryed treatment for it but it didnt work. I dont think it bothers her to much but shall i get her checked out again or wait for a while and see what happens. Please help me

How to now if a cat has skin cancer?
If it's suspected as cancer, the only thing you can do to decide is take a biopsy. Basically, slices if the tissue are taken and stained on a microscope slide. They will also make "cytology impresssions" by pressing a piece of tissue against the slide and then pulling it away to leave cells behind. Then a pathologist will look at the slides and decide whether the cells look normal, if they are dividing abnormally, if they are invading the surrounding tissue, etc. If the growth is benign, it can probably be removed with surgery and may or may not return. If it is malignant, then it really depends on the type of cancer as to what can be done about it. When a biopsy is done, they will decide what cell types make up the tumor, and how it will be approached.

I would not wait on this. Even certain types of malignant cancers can be treated when caught early enough. If you wait, and it is malignant, the cells may migrate to other parts of the body (lungs, spleen, lymph nodes, liver, etc) and cause cancer there as well. Good luck, cancer is hard to deal with.
Reply:The only way to know for sure is to have a biopsy done. You talk to your vet again right away. If your vet doesn't want to do a biopsy, then find another vet who will.

good luck

What are moles on the skin and ...?

What are moles on the skin and how are they formed? Are they from an infected hair gland, liver problem or what?Someone I know gets a red spot on the skin and the next day it is brown. others have pea size lumps/growths.

What are moles on the skin and ...?
Moles are actually tumors, a place where skin cells mutated and started growing more than they're supposed to. Usually, moles are benign (harmless), but if someone has one that is oddly shaped, has rough edges, or changes size or color rapidly, they should see a doctor immediately, as that can be a sign of cancerous growth.
Reply:A mole or melanocytic naevus is a small, dark spot on the skin. It can be either subdermal (composed of melanin), or a pigmented growth on the skin, formed mostly of melanocytes. The high concentration of melanin is responsible for their dark color. They are a member of the family of skin lesions known as naevi.

Moles may either be present at birth or develop later in life. Acquired moles are a form of benign neoplasm, while congenital moles are considered a minor malformation, or hamartoma. Moles are most often of no medical consequence, but since they are permanent, removal may be performed for cosmetic or other reasons. Moles are usually circular or oval and not very large. Most children are born with moles, and almost everyone has at least one or two moles on their bodies. Large amounts can be concentrated on the back, chest, and arms.

Some scientists suspect that overexposure to ultraviolet light (including excessive sunlight) may play a role in the formation of acquired moles, but more research is needed in this area.

Dysplastic nevi or atypical mole syndrome is a hereditary condition which causes the person to have a large quantity of moles (often 100 or more) with some of them larger than normal and/or atypical. This leads to a higher risk of melanoma, a serious skin cancer. A slight majority of melanomas do not form in an existing mole, but rather create a new growth on the skin. Nevertheless, those with dysplastic nevi are at a higher risk of even this type of melanoma. Such persons need to be checked regularly for any changes in their moles (and to note any new ones).

Famous people known for their moles include Cindy Crawford, Steven Berkoff, and Robert De Niro.

The number of moles on a person's body appears to be hereditary. This applies also to their color and shape.

Reply:There are different sources for moles. Melanoma is a cancerous mole that forms in the skin because of damaged dna in melanin cells. They are characterized by uneven edges and often more than one color. Melanoma is one of the most dangerous forms of cancer know to man. Some moles are benign blood vessel tumors, and still others are the result of the body's reaction to spider bites. I am sure there are many more types and causes of moles.
Reply:There are many different types of skin growths and lesions (including moles). Check out http://www.visualdxhealth.com for some good pictures of different skin conditions with an explanation of each. Maybe you can match based on a picture. When in doubt always talk to your doctor though!!!

Here's a quick bit of info on Seborrheic Keratoses -

Seborrheic keratoses are common benign growths of unknown cause seen in adults due to a localized thickening of the top skin layer.

Who has it

Although they can occur anytime after puberty, almost everyone over 50 has one or more of these and they increase in number with age. Some families have an inherited tendency to grow multiple lesions. Men and women are equally as likely to develop seborrheic keratoses; dark skinned people are less affected than those with light skin. Blacks may have a variation called dermatosis papulosa nigra on the face.

Does the skin of an apple function in the same way as human skin?

As an apple grows on a tree, does the skin just stretch with the growth, or do the cells of the skin die, fall off, and regenerate?

Does the skin of an apple function in the same way as human skin?
the skin of an apple is not like the human skin, even though depending on how you look at it you could find some similarities.

the skin of the apple replicate as the fruit grows bigger, similar to human skin, but the difference is that human skin is made up of several layers, one of which is metabolically dead, which is why it flakes off without any pain.

I dont know exactly what type of answer you expect but yeah, apple skin cells will replicate just like any other cell in the plant.

now as for "function" you could say human and apple skin are similar in that they are both protective for example against oxidation (browning)

hope that helps!.
