I just recently ended a very long very unhealthy relationship with acrylic nails (damn them!) and needless to say, my real nails have suffered great damage. What foods, fruits, veggies etc, are good for restoring nail health, promoting nail/hair growth, and making nails/hair stronger?

ok.. you can take supplement that is specially formulated for that purpose.. (walmart, or any drugstore).. but a good fix is taking Knotts gelatine (the one without flavor) everyday: just dissolve 1 packet of Knott's gelatine in water or juice and in 2 weeks you will notice the difference.

Can a bone "chip" work its way out through your skin?
All summer I had a "growth" under my toe nail. A Dr. yanked may toe nail out and sent the growth for analisis; it came back as bone.Now I have something on the side of another toe (other foot) that has actually razor cut into the adjacent toe. I did Martial Arts for many years and prob. have chip plenty of bone in my feet. Can this be what's happening? Dr. just shrugged and said "not likely"

hello. im Nyl. well i just wanna ask some tips on how to care for my face specifically on how to deal with pimples. what are the effective ways of preventing pimple growth (ways i can do at home) as far as dermatology is concerned. and is it ok to put some anti-inflammatory creams on inflamed pimples? how do artists make their face flawless?

first start with washing your face more often, pimples are created from the oils in your skin. washing atleast twice a day will greatly reduce the outbreaks. Another way is to use an astringent on your face, you can use pure rubbing alcohol but not all skin types can handle it, if you need a gentler one try using 1 part witch hazel and 3 part water to make your own which is alot cheaper than buying clean and clear from the drug store but still the same effect.
An easy way to cover up and outbreak is to use eye drops on your pimple. Use the drops that are meant to reduce redness, I am not sure why this works but I read it in a magazine and have been doing it since. It only lasts for a few hours so you will have to do it atleast 3 times a day, but it makes them not noticable long enough to go on a date or whatever.
And I do not know of anyone using anti-inflammatory cream on pimples, so I cannot help you there!

Put fresh squeezed lemon juice and olive oil in hot water. Hold them in for 5 minutes. Do this daily if you can. Massage your fingers. It will boost your circulation. If that area is hotter than usual (from soaking), it will produce more keratin cells, which will make your nails grow faster.

I have sensitive skin and I always get razor burn! Any tips?
When I shave my legs in the shower I always get razor burn! Ive tried many different things such as using an electric razor but still will sometimes get razor burn; Ive tried using a conditioner for a shaving gel instead of a mild body wash which is what I use most often; Ive tried different lotions and still get it. Ive even tried shaving in the direction of the hair growth and it doesnt help. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could try? I'll do about anything at this point! No waxing though, too messy and painful!! Thanks!

First off, i don't wash my legs when doing this, i just apply the conditionor (used for head) and rub it in nicely. Lather it up!
Next get your razor (just a manual, not an electric) and shave with the direction of your hair growth. Rinise the razor and repeat shaving.
Once this has been completed get a small face wash towel and put it in warm water and wipe of the excess conditionor.
Pat towel dry your legs, and apply your moisturizor. (OLAY, is perfect). MASSAGE it in. Litreally. If it stings, dont do it. Try a tea tree oil, but in a cream.
And yeah, thats it. I don't get razor burn from this. Unless i use really hot water.

Skin tags are harmless, although they are sometimes irritated by clothing or jewelry. Why and how skin tags form is not entirely known, but there are correlations with age and obesity. They are more common in people with diabetes mellitus. It is estimated that by age 70, up to 59 percent of people have them. A genetic component (causation) is thought to exist.
Prior to the age of modern medicine, acrochordons were believed to be one sign of a witches' mark.

I've developed a strange growth on my nose in the last few months. It occasionally bleeds, and seems to be growing. What could this be?

My mother has a melanoma on the side of her nose. It too looked strange and was a little dark. It was early stage melanoma and she elected to just have the cancer cells scraped instead of having half her nose removed.
You need to be evaluated and possibly have a biopsy to rule out cancer.

Ive had my blue betta for a year and hes been totally happy and healthy. then one day i noticed a little white dot maybe 1mm accross on his body. now it has grown to about 3mm accross and distends a mill from his body. it looks like the scales are peeling away from the white bit. What is this? How can I fix it? At first I thought just white spot but there was only ever teh one spot?! He still is acting normally swimming around and eating fin waggling what is this growth thing!? HELP make him better!

If the spot looks at all fuzzy or furry, it's a fungus and treatment is easy with stuff from the pet shop. If it's bacterial, look for treatments at the pet shop too, but don't hold your breath for a full recovery. A parasite that size on a beta would be diffucult to properly treat with a very poor chance of recovery. How long has the spot been there and how quickly did it grow? A fast growth rate (2-3 days) would almost certain indicate a bacteria or fungus which are the most likely answers.
Personally, I would treat for both bacteria and fungus and hope for the best.

This sounds like an abcess or a bacterial infection that is eating away his scales. Add a little aquarium salt (1/2 tsp per gallon, disolved first) to the water, and treat with maracyn and maracyn-2. Be sure to keep his water very clean, and very warm (around 80F) to ensure proper healing and to prevent a reccurence.

Anyone try the Hair, Skin, and Nail Vitamins at Dollar General?
I was hesitant to buy Dollar General brand vitamins, but I've tried a few other things of their's that are really good quality. I've been using these vitamins for a couple months. They're really helping my nails, I don't know about my hair. I've heard it can take some time to notice a difference in hair growth. I've read on a hair site I visit that several ppl have had good results with Ultra Nourishair (GNC). I like the DG, though, because they contain calcium - I take it as a multi, so I need a hair vitamin that contains calcium. They also contain a lot of other good stuff for hair - similar to the GNC vits. Anyone use these, and how long did it take you to notice results w/hair growth and condition (if you did).

I think those are keloids but I'm not absolutely sure. Keloids are an overgrowth of scar tissue at the site of a healed skin injury.

I originally went to my primary care physician, who told me not to worry - the two little growths were not dangerous, but she wasn't the type of doctor who could remove them. (I can't recall what she referred to them as.) They're about the size of a zit and located one on a labial flap and one near the opening of the anus. (Sounds disgusting, I know - but true - and I want to get rid of them! lol) What kind of doctor should I go to?

There is an itching that seems to move around the body but its not micro filaria what is it?
what i mean is that the itching is very similar to chloroquine allegy reaction but it is usually on one part of the body say the head,legs or back area at a particular time it sustains for about an hour then subsides for a while and can incease with changes in temperature aiso there is small boil like swellings around the private part after love making and could take a while to heal as a matter of fact there is a skin growth resulting from the boil swelling

What to do with a 8 1/2 unspayed rottweiler with many cysts not cancerous but one very large breast tumor.?
i have 2 different vets telling me 2 different things to do. my rottweiler has all her shots and is up to date on everything. regular health chech ups etc. one vet did not even diagnose it properly i had to get second opinion and he said i should get a chest x ray to see if she has lung cancer, and then spay her and remove the breast tumor with no biopsy and it costs $600 plus????????? un sure of what the right thing is to do. can anyone give me more info and some expert advice. she has also had 3 surgeries prior to remove a large cyst and skin growth, plus she swallowed a ball and had to have emergency surgery or be put to sleep. love her and want to do the right thing.

What my vet did was xray her first to make sure she did not have lung cancer. He told me that if she did then there would really be no use in removing the tumor. She did not have lung cancer he removed the tumor (my bill was $550) and she lived for another two years. She was more playful. She eventually died of cancer but she has two more happy years with us. So my suggestion would be to x-ray first and then remove the tumor if the xray is ok. You do not want it to "pop" like my dogs did. You may also want to call some other vets to compare costs if you are not totally stuck on the vet you have - you would be surprised at how rates differ. Also, you may want to ask about a payment plan. The vet may be willing to work with you. Hope this helps and good luck.

Guppy problem..?
Ok, my pregnant guppy's left eye seems WRONG! Happen to notice it today, last night it was fine.. The left eye seems to have a white circle around it in the centre of the eye.
The whole eye is black right? But in the centre there seems to be a skin growth in the shape of a circle.. Its like coming out of the eye.. Looks weird... Is it going blind?! is it fungus?

For the potential parasite, I would suggest treating with Maracide or Clout, which ever you can get easily.
If you think it started on the surface and it's a fungus, I would suggest either Maroxy or Jungles Fungus Eliminator. Ether one should clear up the problem and both are pretty common.

What you can do is get purified water and a good filter. and hurry your fish is suffering. get it some of that water before it dies. well glad i could help

I was thinking that since they are vitamins and suppose to add with hair and good skin growth would it be harmful for the kids. Since they are deveolping at this time.

I have this skin growth on my a** hole. it started out really small but i've noticed that its gotten bigger. I'm really self consicous of it now, the other day me and my man were "having relations" he was behind me and he noticed it. He though it was a little piece of poop!! i was soooo embarrased. i think i have some skin growth in my inner thigh near my genitals. i think its a wart. coz it used to be 1 now its 4. ive searched in the net for pictures of genital warts but its not like all of the pics. its small and circular. i dont think its called genital wart if its not in your genitals. so is just a common wart? but it still doesn't look like any common wart? or maybe its just a baby wart? wahh. i'm so confused. i'm kindda shy to go to my doctor. %26gt;_%26lt;

sitting here pecking my keybord. im the one that cut my finger off. the numbing is starting to wear off, and i dont feel all too great. lost a pint of blood and had countless shots. anything i can do to help rejuvinate my energy and increase skin growth?

He was also given drugs to help with pain control

I have lost 6 kgs in 6months, and am not sure if i have piles?
I am a 35 year old woman, with kids aged 11 and9. For about 8 months now, i have started having pains while passing stools. It is not everyday, but the pain is like the mouth of the anus is torn, and there is blood also. Of late, the blood used to come out in clots, now it is just a little smear. I can also feel a small skin growth ,it could be a tear, about 1/2 cm long from my anus. I eat light, home cooked food, and no junk or oily stuff for me. With my gall bladder removed almost7 years back, i stay off junk food.

What is that jelly stuff on and around scab after shower or when wound is pretty much saturated?
I cut myself on my chin friday, it was quite deep. I have been keeping it clean and putting savlon on it. However I have also noticed when the savlon has been on for a while or after the shower the scab appears to have a jelly like stuff on it.
Anyway, when I am cleaning the cut up after a shower or something i have been lightly dabbing it and rubbing it and this stuff comes off. Its obviously not skin growth as this is under the scab.
Is this bad? Should I leave it be.

You are doing a perfect job keeping it cleaned. Keep with the ointment, by keeping it moist, it doesn't have a chance to crack and bleed (opening new areas thus less scarring).

my staffy has had a tiny lump on his belly and armpit for quite a time. to me it looks like a pink raisin and the one on his belly has grown. i asked the vet and he sed its just a skin growth and can remove it by tying string around it. but my mum doesnt want me to do..i dont know y. is there anyone who knows wat this is or how i can get rid of it another way without hurting him?

Does anyone know anything about dog growths?
I own six year old male Siberian Husky and recently I found a bump near the thigh of his back left leg. I thought it was tick but after examining it, I noticed that it appeared to be apart of his skin. It is very small and white (looks like a cross between a mole and a pimple) but the way it's attached, makes me think it's a tick. It looks a little red, like theirs tiny, tiny bit of dried blood at the base, but that may have come from him biting at it. I'm really worried, so if anyone knows anything that could help; I'd really appreciate your answers

Boyfriend has fleshy growths in groin area!?
My boyfriend has two small fleshy bumps on his penis near the base and one higher up on his pubic region almost at his waist. He said he has had them for a while ever since he put on a pair of jeans hot out of the dryer and the zipper and button burned him pretty badly. As he doesn't wear underwear, the story would add up, but I have never seen scarring like this before, and due to the area where these fleshy bumps are, I am reasonably worried by them. They are almost like skin tags.

Third nipple or something else?
I'm not trying to be gross, I have a real question. I have a growth on my left nipple. It's right next to my real nipple, but only like maybe a half centimeter wide and as high as my regular nipple when hard. It doesn't look like a complete full extra nipple. I'll try to describe it- you know the little bumps around your nipple? It's like a bunch of those bumps grouped together but vertically, not flat, if that makes sense. Is this just a weird skin growth or a third nipple? If I want to breastfeed later will I have to have a removed? If anyone has had this, how much will it cost to have it removed? Will insurance cover it (if it DOES affect breastfeeding) or will it be considered cosmetic surgery? Thanks for all your help.

Started with a pea sized bump on outside edge of left second finger end knuckle. Didn't pay much attention to it especially since my Nurse practitioner did not seem to be concerned. It is now reduced in size and the integrity of the skin is intact and looks normal. Now have the same thing in the same location of the right hand. This has errupted with a colorless, odorless, gelatinous substance (on it's 4th build up) The top looks like a blister. Very Painful and is struck against everything. Now have a small blister like spot on the top of the right "pinkie" near the last knuckle. Does not have the appearance of any wart I am able to find pictures of. Help, VA isn't and I have no dermatologist in the area.

What Are These Things On My Hands And Feet!?
A few years back i had athletes foot on my left foot because my job involves me being constantly on my feet and im at college too. After a few months it started to go away but i suddenly started to get little bubbles under my skin around the palms of my hands and the edges of my fingers near the nail. I went to the doctors and he gave me a cream (i forgot how to spell it) but it had a steriod of some sort in it which encouraged skin growth because i was scratching my hands so much it was making the skin peel. Ive read on the internet athletes foot and spread to the palms of hands but I never thought in the form of water bubbles under your skin?? They Went away these bubbles for a while because i asumed it was the cleaning products i used at work that had something in them which i was allergic to which my doctor said was 'most likely' but they started to come back again! and i discovered 2 nights ago in the bath that im starting to get them on my toes! What is this lump on my dog's tail?
Hi everyone, I have a 2 year old Border Collie Beagle mixed dog. Recently I gave him a bath and noticed a very long piece of skin (cylindrical - 0.9cm long, 0.2 cm in diameter) that branched off from the side of his tail. I removed the skin piece and what was left was a swollen round wound area that eventually closed up.
A week later, I checked on his wound area - it became swollen full of a thick white milky substance that resembled pus. I expelled it, but it comes back every few days... After a month, it stopped forming pus and formed a hard skin protrusion. Again I removed the hard piece of skin with tweezers and applied an antibiotic cream. Now there is a hole where the skin was removed, but the skin that was surround the crust is still hard and swollen-like.

have you ever heard of a vet?????? why are you surgically removing anything from your pet and applying your own thoughts of what cream would best treat it? take your dog to the vet. the money you've spent on cream and treatment could have paid for the exam. what is wrong with you is a better question. try the vet. do you remove growths from your own body? unless you have a doctorate in veterinary science do what a normal person would do and go to the vet. sounds like you've made something simple more of a problem then it needed to be.

I think I tore my conch piercing! How do I take care of it and prevent a keloid from growing?
Here's the deal: I got a conch piercing (inner ear cartilage) about 5 years ago. I woke up this morning and it was sore. I think I may have slept on it in a weird way because my inner ear cartilage is reddish and sensitive. It doesn't hurt enough to be an infection, but I don't want to ignore it and run the risk of getting one of those yucky, yucky skin growths on my ear. How should I take care of my piercing to ensure that this doesnt happen? I'm currently cleansing it with Dr. Bronner's castille soap (the soap my piercer recommended to me when I originally got the piercing.) PLEASE HELP!

People just don't get keloids from sleeping on piercings funny. Its generally a gentic trait which will determine if you get keloids and how bad they are. While some extreme trauma can cause them, usually problems that people have aren't keloids, its hypertrophic scarring
Hypertrophic scarring is inflamed tissue that can be red and sore. The best remedy for you to use is hot compresses, sea salt soaks and every other day, massage a diluted amount of tea tree oil on the area and wipe away excess oil. The combination of those things will soften any scar tissue that is there and will sooth the area making it less sore and red. Over time the area should be okay, but symptoms can flare up for no reason sometimes.
Another thing that may help is a change of jewelry. I don't know what is in there, but it could add to the problem. Often down-gauging helps or simply getting a different type of jewelry can make a difference.

Genital warts question!?
I have developed some flesh coloured what looks like warts around my very tops of my legs by my grone they appeared from nowhere started as one n i now have a few more they do not itch or irritate me in anyway. You could cover them with bandaids during intercourse, but the bandaids could come off if there's moisture involved (sweat.) And there's no way to put a bandaid on an infected skin cell that you can't visibly see yet. The warts spread so easily! A nurse has said "the only way to have sex and prevent spreading them is to use the male and female condom...together..." but if you ask me, that's impossible! Neither condom covers the inner thigh and buttocks. Both partners should have sex with underwear (female) and boxers (male) on to keep the least amount of skin from touching! It's not sexy, but ...neither is spreading warts. Best of luck to you.
