Do tanning beds contribute to the growth and development of skin cancer?

Yes. UV rays (even artificial) are a type of radiation, and they can penetrate cell walls and denature (change) the cell's DNA. Cancer means that cells are reproducing rapidly, and out of control. Often this starts because of a DNA problem in one of the cells, and usually because the DNA has been denatured. BTW: cigarette smoke denatures lung cells.

Do tanning beds contribute to the growth and development of skin cancer?
Yes they do soooo don't do it! Get a spray tan
Reply:If used too much I think so.
Reply:I cant prove it does, But I would never lay in a tanning bed, or let a family member if I could stop them.

That is your choice.

My oppenion if God had wanted me to be brown,I would have been created brown.

Wouldnt it be boring if we were all the same collor, same size and had the same color of hair.

love your body the way it is and love God for letting you hang out in it.

Reply:Yes, there is overwhelming evidence to support that the UV rays created by tanning beds damages DNA and is responsible for mutations in it (this is NOT the same as denaturing as the above answerer says). These changes to DNA will contribute to the growth and development of skin cancer.

There was a story in the paper recently about a woman who used sunbeds twice a day since she was 14 and she died aged 26 due to developing malignant melanoma, a very very agressive high mortality rate skin cancer. Its best to stay clear.
