I just read that something called "biotin" helps with hair, eyelashes, skin and nails. Myth or truth?

I just read that something called "biotin" is a natural way to enhance growth of hair, eyelashes, etc., as well as skin and nails. Is this something new? Is it bogus? Anyone had experience with this?

I just read that something called "biotin" helps with hair, eyelashes, skin and nails. Myth or truth?
Truth. I've taken it everyday for the past two years after it was recommended to a family member to help with her thinning hair. It made my hair thicker and healthier. My nails, which I have never been able to grow, are now long and strong - I don't break one everytime I move. I strongly recommend Biotin.
Reply:Well, the only way that I have ever gotten my nails or hair to grow was by increasing the amount of protein I consumed. And, you can buy a special type of gelatin called "Knox". After about a month of drinking it, you'll probably notice an improvement in your hair and new nail growth. Fingernails grow very slowly, so don't be upset if you don't see the effects right away.
Reply:Yes, my beautician recently told me about biotin. It is said to increase hair and nail growth and improve your skin. I've done alot of research online and have found that it cannot harm you in any way. I just started taking it yesterday so I can't inform you of any results. I have shoulder length hair in the front, the rear is down my back but I want it all the same length and thicker. From what I read online it is suppose to help me in those areas. So we'll see.

I say GO FOR IT!
Reply:I just started taking it about two weeks ago to help with my hair growth as well. I was told to take with food and along with Centrum to maximum effects. I haven't noticed any changes yet. I was told I wouldn't notice any changes until about after a month or so. I think you should go ahead and try as well, it is really cheap so if it doesn't work then it's not a huge loss. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this works for me. Good luck.
