Does the skin of an apple function in the same way as human skin?

As an apple grows on a tree, does the skin just stretch with the growth, or do the cells of the skin die, fall off, and regenerate?

Does the skin of an apple function in the same way as human skin?
the skin of an apple is not like the human skin, even though depending on how you look at it you could find some similarities.

the skin of the apple replicate as the fruit grows bigger, similar to human skin, but the difference is that human skin is made up of several layers, one of which is metabolically dead, which is why it flakes off without any pain.

I dont know exactly what type of answer you expect but yeah, apple skin cells will replicate just like any other cell in the plant.

now as for "function" you could say human and apple skin are similar in that they are both protective for example against oxidation (browning)

hope that helps!.
