If our bodies are in constant flux and re-celluar growth, how do are tattoos stay on our skin?

The ink is at such a deep level that the new skin cells mostly grow around it or on top of it.

If our bodies are in constant flux and re-celluar growth, how do are tattoos stay on our skin?
this is exactly what i was wondering the other day.
Reply:Tattoos are on the Dermis (inside skin, above the muscles) and not the epidermis (the outside skin)
Reply:we dunt duble or triple our size every day .. esp after puberty ... tattoos eventualy do get etched ..like when u turn ure 60 ull see that its faded .. and tattoos are imprinted into our skin not on .. so we cant just put on moisturizer on our skin and call it a tattooless day :) hehe im not sure of wut i just sed but yea hardy har har
Reply:I was told (when i asked this in biology) that the ink from the tattoos went between the two layers of skin, and thats how they stay in place, of course when one's skin stretches the tattoo will too. so be careful where you get it done.
